Professional
membership
ASID's highest level of membership is reserved for practitioners who
have completed a course of accredited education and/or equivalent
work experience in interior design and successfully completed the
National Council for Interior Design Qualification(NCIDQ) examination.
Allied Membership
Practitioner
Practicing interior designers who fulfill one of the following requirements:
a four- or five-year bachelor's degree with a major in interior
design or architecture; or a two- or three-year degree or certificate
in interior design; or a minimum of six years full-time work in
interior design or architecture.
Education Members
Educators who are actively engaged as department chair or full-time
instructors, in a post-secondary program of interior design education
at any university or accredited school of interior design that requires
completion of 45 semester credit hours in interior design-related
courses.
Affiliate Membership
Individuals engaged in design-related activities and services but
not participating in design. Examples include design-related services,
business professions, organizations and institutions, non-designer
owners and professional staff of interior design firms or corporate
design departments. Press members (print and TV journalist, etc.)
are defined as those who edit, publish and/or report on interior
design and related subjects.
